RAJALAKSHMEE SANJAY – HOD (CARNATIC & HINDUSTANI CLASSICAL VOCAL)/CONTEMPORARY

Rajalakshmee, a Visharad in Hindustani Classical Vocal Music, was born and brought up in an illustrious family of musicians and began her stint in music from the age of 5 years. Beginning with formal training in Carnatic Music, she later received training in Hindustani Classical Music from her guru Shri Chandrakant Apte of Gwalior Gharana.

Rajalakshmee is not only well versed with Hindustani & Carnatic Classical styles of vocal music, but also equally proficient in Contemporary and World Fusion styles too.

Having a unique style of singing with a soothing timbre in her voice, it’s been over a span of 20 years that she has carved a niche for herself and is one of the most preferred artist when it comes to studio sessions or live sessions.

A well balanced attribute that she has managed to achieve, she is an equally efficient educator and has strengthened her presence in the field of music education too. She hones a unique style of teaching with strong communication skills which makes the learning lessons interesting and light helping the students in achieving  the right technique to deliver a seamless vocal rendition. 

 

Achievements & Awards

 

A multi linguist, Rajalakshmee has rendered her vocals in more than 10 Indian languages

 

Won the best female playback singer in 2005 for Kokku para para song. Movie Chandramukhi

 

Won the Kannadasan best female singer for the same

 

Felicitated as a versatile singer by Rotary Club, Coimbatore in the year 2007

 

Composes and renders her vocals for projects connected with Rajshri Productions

 

Rajalakshmee heads the Indian Classical Vocal Music faculty at Ravi Iyer Academy for Performing Arts.
